Setting up a discount system

Acronym system has an extensive system of discounts that you can offer to your clients.

There are three major types of discounts:

Common discount – is offered to all clients if they fall under certain criteria.
Coupon discount – is offered to the clients that activated their coupons.
Personal discount – is offered to clients chosen by the administrator.

In order to create a discount, you need to go to the admin panel and choose Settings > Discounts.

There are three main strategies you can use for the discounts:

All applicable – all discounts that exist can be applied to an order. By default, only a max discount will be applied unless you activate the Summarize discounts option in all the discounts that you have created.
Discount maximal for the element – only one maximal discount would be applied to every position in the order, no matter how many other discounts are active.
Single discounts are not summarized – only discounts that have a Summarize discounts option enabled will be summarized. All other discounts won't be summarized. If you use this strategy either a sum of discount or a maximal one will be applied, depending on which option is the largest.

Below Repost Discounts are available. Here you can add a discount that would work after a generated link is reposted by a user.

In the bottom section, you can find a discount for a first order made by a friend. Users would be able to create coupons themselves in their profiles and send them to their friends. Messaging options and text of notifications can be changes on the Notifications (Discounts coupon sent to a friend).

1. Creating General Discounts.

In order to create a discount press Create button located in the top part of the page.

In the window that appears you need to add a name of a discount that you want to create (e.g. 15% on Business Cards) and its type (e.g.Common Discount) after that press Add.

There are four sections in the settings:

General information. This section includes the following settings:

Enable/Disable Discount
Summarize with other discounts
Place discount to a user account – the sum of the discount will be placed on a user account. Money on the account can be used to pay for an order or a part of it.
Title – is a field with a name of a discount in an admin panel.
Website Title – this is the title that will be displayed on a website, if the field is empty the value from the Title will be used.
Description.
Limitation type – this option sets how many times the discount can be applied. There are five types of limitations:

Unlimited - number of times a discount can be applied is unlimited;
One time - discount can be applied only once;
«N times» – discount can be applied the number of times specified in the Times field;
One time per client - discount can be applied only once by every client;
«N times for a client» – discount can be applied the number of times specified in the Times field by every client;
First order only - discount will be applied only to the first order made by a client.

Restrictions:

Discount Duration.
Additional restrictions:

By days of the week – discount is active only on certain days of the week;
By holidays – discount is only active on certain days as well as some time after it;
By the time of order – discount is only active if an order is made at a certain time during the day;

By products ordered at a certain time – discount is only active if an order is made at a certain time during the day; The number of product is updated every time period. The restriction is only active if you have any products added.
Sum of products in order or the total sum of an order If you pick a total sum of orders - the discount will be activated only if the user order is equal or larger than a certain sum. As for the Sum of products the discount will be activated only if the cost of certain products in an order is equal or larger than a certain sum. In case the total sum does not matter the value in the field should be equal to 0.
Discount available for users::

«Only for physical persons»;
«Only for legal persons»;
«Only for clients»;
«Only for employees»;
«Only for partners»;

Discount availability:

«Everywhere» – works on a website and in the mobile app;
«Only on a website»;
«Only in a mobile app»;

Products. If a discount is applicable to all categories, you don't need to activate this option. If a discount is applicable only to certain products, you need to enable Apply only to certain categories options and after that choose those categories by pressing Add button.
Options to which a discount is applicable. If a discount is applicable to all options, you don't need to activate this option. If there are any restrictions by options, you need to activate Apply only to the certain options and then choose those options by pressing Add.
«Calculate a discount for options and products», this option can be enabled if you have any restrictions for product options.
Store products to which a discount is applicable. If a discount is applicable to all categories, you don't need to activate this option. If you enable Apply only to certain categories of store products, the discount will work the same way as the discount in the previous paragraph.
Shipping options to which a discount is applicable. If a discount is applicable to all shipping options, you don't need to activate this option. If a discount should be applied only to certain shipping options you'll need ti to enable Discount is applicable only for certain shipping options and choose them by pressing Add.
Restriction for products from suppliers.If a discount is applicable to all categories, you don't need to activate this option. If there are any supplier restrictions, you'll need to enable Available only for certain categories of providers and press Add to choose suppliers.

Size of a discount applicable to certain products.
There are two methods that allow to configure the size of the discount:

The discount can be based on monetary value.
The discount can be based on the percent of an order sum. If you want a discount to be based on the percent you'll need to enable an option Discount is calculated based on a percent from the sum of order elements, and enter a value in a Discount Size field. After you enable this option, you'll need to set a maximum size of a discount. It will allow restricting the maximum size of a discount (if you don't want to restrict it, set 0 as the maximum value).

There are two additional methods for calculating a discount if it is based on monetary value:

Discount = value x print run discount is calculated by multiplying monetary value and a print run of a product.
Discount = value x print x number of surfaces discount is calculated by multiplying monetary value, a print run of a product, and number of surfaces.

Size of a shipping discount – this option is used for setting a shipping discount. This discount works the same way as the Size of a discount applicable to certain products except for the Apply only if the order includes the products from certain categories. Enable this option if you want it to work only for the orders that include products to the categories added to the discount Restrictions.

To save the settings press the Save button at the bottom of the page.

2. Creating Coupon Discount

Discount Configuration

In order to create a Coupon Discount press, Add button on a Discount page in the Cms.
In the window that appears you need to add a name of a discount that you want to create (e.g. 15% on Business Cards) and its type (Coupon Discount) after that press Add.

The period of the discount is indicated.
Additional restrictions::

Coupon Creation

To create a coupon open Discount tabs and open any Coupon Discount.
After that open the Coupon tab.

To create a coupon press, Create New button above the table of coupons.
The table includes the following information about coupons:

coupon value (number);
generation pattern that shows how coupon was created;
coupon type;
activation date.

Coupon can be created the following way:

Enter a single coupon. Coupon value is entered manually (any characters). They can be used once or many times. The type of a coupon is chosen the the Coupon Type field.

Generate a set of coupons. One or multiple coupons are generated. Coupon are generated according to a pattern. There are special symbols for coupon generation such as:
- «*» – means that any letter or number can be generated;
- «@» – means that any letter can be generated;
- «#» – means that any number can be generated;
You can also give coupons (letter, number, symbol) a constant value that would be the same for all generated coupons.

Below you can add the number of the coupons and their type.
Import coupons from the file. File format — .csv (generated in MS Excel). With a Choose file button, you can upload a file from winch coupons will be uploaded and after pressing Create coupons with be imported to the table with coupons. This feature is very useful if you already have a list of coupons that you need to add to the table on a website.
Import of file with coupons from coupon services such as www.groupon.com. For this set {0} value in the Format field and necessary number of ? characters. Also, add to the pattern field the number of # symbols that every imported coupon has and the same amount of the ? symbols in the formatting field (an example is on the screenshot below). You don't need to add hyphens unless they are present in the coupon numbers.

Other than coupon import you can also export them in the Excel file. The button Export to Excel is located below the table with coupons. This feature is very useful if you need to print a list of a coupons.

3. Creating Personal Discount.

Discount Users

Personal Discount can be either applied manually by the website employees or automatically based on the preset rules. To configure a discount open the Users tab.

Users can be added manually with the Choose users and Add user e-mails places above Clients that can access a discount.

There are four methods for adding a user’s:

Only manually – users can be added only manually.
Add only if an order had been made in the present time – user will be added to the discount only after an order has been made (the discount will work for the second and the following orders).
Add only if the money spent by the user is larger than a certain amount – user will be added to the discount only after the sum he spent will be larger or equal to a certain amount.
Add only if the money spent by the user is larger than a certain amount on affiliate orders – the user will be added to the discount only after the sum he spent on affiliate orders will be larger or equal to a certain amount. There is an option to add users who already fall under those requirements. For this enable option "Add users that already fall under the discount requirements" and press Save.
